So really this all started when I was living in Rochester and I found myself with some extra time on my hands. I was paying closer attention to the “cleaner” products I’d seen and finally decided to take the plunge on a few of them. Mostly I just wanted to share what I liked and learned, and whether or not I’ll continue to use them.
First up, Corpus Natural deodorant. I had been on the hunt for a natural deodorant and tried Smiths first, but didn’t like how sticky it made my armpits. Plus I found myself reapplying a few times a day, which isn’t ideal for anyone. I understand that with natural deodorants, it won’t prevent you from sweating, so if it happens it will show, and I didn’t mind that. But I just felt like I still stunk haha. Anyway! Then I came across Corpus and was excited just in reading the reviews alone. I wasn’t sure about the scents though so I tried out the trio option. I loved the Third Rose scent the best. I also got Sandulum (not a fan) and Californian (loved!) too. Like I said, if I sweat, it did show, but as with all natural deodorants, they aren’t antiperspirant so it was inevitable. Plus, your body is made to sweat so just let it be! This stuff smelled great and I was good with just one application a day.
Will I purchase again? Honestly, $22 for 1 thing of deodorant seems a little ridiculous to me, as much as I was pleased with the product. However, once I run out of this mini guy, I may just order another trio of all Third Rose (a $28 value) and stash some away for travel and such.
Next we have the Branch Basics cleaning products. Let’s just say, I was blown away by the streak free spray alone. It’s like 98% water with just a drop of the concentrate and I’m not kidding, it was 1 drop. I was majorly skeptical that this stuff would make all the mirrors and windows in my house as clean as Windex or Norwex (still good!), but this stuff is magic. And it’s CLEAN! Millie and Motley stand at the front door almost every day breathing on and drooling all over the door as they people watch and it just makes me feel better that the products are safe. I purchased the Starter Kit plus Oxygen Boost and while I can’t say much about the oxygen boost or laundry detergent just yet (I’m trying to finish up the other stuff I have first), I can say that I’m pretty pleased with the other cleaning products.
Will I purchase again? Without a doubt. These products are clean, affordable and actually work. And I can let my toddler participate in everyday chores like this without a worry.
Next in line are these Puracy products. I was fortunate enough to be able to add these to my wishlist when I was in the hospital and these babies did not disappoint. I absolutely love how they smell and my hair actually feels better. I was given the bundle with the shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion and all 4 are awesome. Millie is obsessed with putting the lotion on herself and I love that I can let her and not worry it irritating her skin, especially since she has eczema. This company offers household items as well, I’ve actually been using their laundry detergent for the kids clothes mostly and I’m pleasantly surprised at how well it works.
Will I purchase again? Absolutely! I’m excited to try the baby products once I get through what we already have. Millie especially will be glad to have more bubbles in her life.
Lastly on the clean products list is this Earth Mama diaper cream. Millie had the worst history of diaper rashes and I had been using Desitin pretty regularly, but I’ve learned since that it’s actually one of the worst products out there to use on your baby. According to ewg.com and the National Toxicology Program – an ingredient known as BHA is classified as “reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen.” So ya know, not a fan of that. Especially for something that was applied every day, multiple times a day, it just wasn’t sitting right with me even it was working. Thankfully, this diaper balm from Earth Mama has kept her rashes at bay and I’m SO happy I found a reliable alternative for Desitin. Charlie uses it too, more for preventative measures, but it also helps ensure his diapers don’t stick to him (like when he poops a tiny bit and I don’t change him in time). Riveting stuff over here, amiright?
Will I purchase again? You know it. I’ll do anything for my kids and that includes protecting their little booties, even if it costs more.
Now, let’s talk about the Dyson vacuum – we all have one and love them right? If not, it’s an investment worth considering, especially if you have a 90lb shepherd at home who sheds an obscene amount. I love being able to grab and go and it’s always charged too. I need to get into a better habit of vacuuming everyday, at least the living room, but it doesn’t always happen. Still though, this thing is a game changer when it comes to cleaning. We have the Dyson Cyclone v10 animal model and it’s a dream. Bojo bought it for me as a surprise when we were living in Rochester and I couldn’t have been happier about a cleaning product as a Christmas gift. Anyway, if you know, YOU KNOW. And if you don’t yet, I’d highly recommend adding this to your wishlist.
Last but not least is this Bissel Steam Mop – this product has me actually thinking about the next time I’ll need to mop and I LOOK FORWARD TO IT – whaaaa. Maybe it’s day 47 of self isolation, or maybe it’s the fact that my floors actually need it – either way, I can’t wait to bust this guy out and get to work. It’s quick work too. I tried the scented discs they include but didn’t love the smell so I’d recommend trying your favorite essential oil with distilled water instead. It heats up quickly and really CLEANS my floors. Which honestly I mopped maybe 4 times in a couple years of living here. It’s a sad truth but the first step is admitting it right?
I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into some of my favorite products and if anything it’s encouraged you to consider some cleaner options out there. They exist and they may be hard to find, or even more expensive, but when it comes to our kids and even our own health, I definitely think it’s worth it.
